It Begins in Silence, Ends in Grace is a collection of lyric and narrative poems in which the poet looks back at memories from his childhood as he also contemplates the end of his life from his 84th year. The poems are filled with his joy in his life and mediations on what lies ahead. Who or what is it that creates gifts, miracles, joy, but also brings disasters, pain, and death. He concludes that this wonderful earth and universe is plenty for him, even if this is all there is.
